Frank, thanks for the grat money saving suggestion, maybe with your information and modifications one of the maintenance free batteries will fit. The latest J.C. Whitney catalog had the new style batteries but the Savage was not among the applications listed. I'll bet the A2 version is though. Thanks for sharing with us. Max
